What an interesting week we have had! At around 12:15a. Monday it started to storm here in Kirksville. Kevon and I hopped out of bed to look out our bedroom window and it looks like a hurricane! Rain and 70 mph straight winds. I literally crawled across our bedroom to the living room because it sounded like our windows were going to shatter. My husband, however, being the man that he is, thought it would be a great idea to walk outside to feel the force of the winds since we had never experienced weather quite like this. As soon as we opened the door to the storm, a tree snapped and fell right on Kevon's car. Great timing, huh? This is what we woke up to the next morning . . .

We took a drive the following morning to see damage to the town, and we were fortunate in comparison to other residents. Several trees were pulled from their roots, we drove past a house that was crushed by a large tree, firework stands were ruined, businesses suffered structural damage. Much of the town was without power, including us, for over 24 hours. Crews came from all over the border, working through the night and following days, to get electricity going for everyone again.

The good news! Our power was restored and, although Kevon's car suffered a lot of damaged, it is not totaled! So now that this interesting week is winding down, we are going to pack up and leave for Lake of the Ozarks for the weekend to spend some time with my family prior to heading to Kansas City for Kevon's preceptorship.
